OverviewInto Math California is designed for Grades TK–Algebra 1 classrooms to support all learners in developing mathematical understanding and proficiency.
How it worksInto Math California integrates conceptual learning, procedural practice, collaborative problem-solving, mathematical discourse, and real-world applications to promote active engagement and deepen mathematical understanding. The program incorporates evidence-based practices supported by current mathematics education research and is designed to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Efficacy and ESSA evidence level

The Into Math California Evidence Base documents the scholarly research and evidence-based instructional practices that inform the program’s design. Built on the principles of the California Mathematics Framework, Into Math California draws on research in mathematics education, cognitive science, student engagement, mathematical identity, real-world problem solving, equitable instruction, and support for multilingual learners. Through rich investigations, mathematical discourse, coherent learning progressions, and authentic applications of mathematics, the program is designed to help all students develop deep understanding and confidence as math learners.

Adaptive learning Into Math California provides differentiated instruction, intervention, and enrichment resources to support diverse student needs, with adaptive practice available through Waggle®. 
Device use

Into Math California can be implemented in print, digital, or blended environments based on district preferences and instructional goals. All core instruction can be delivered using print materials, while digital resources and reporting tools are available through HMH Ed® for schools that choose to use them.

  • Students may use web-enabled devices to access digital assignments, assessments, instructional resources, and adaptive practice through HMH Ed.
  • Waggle provides optional personalized practice that adjusts to student performance and delivers targeted support and feedback.
  • Teachers can use HMH Ed to access lesson resources, planning tools, digital assessments, and reporting features.

Technology use is flexible and complements print instruction, with teachers determining when and how digital tools are used.
