At HMH®, we are committed to partnering with nonprofits, schools, and communities to unlock student potential and provide opportunities for all learners to thrive. We empower our employees to participate in our corporate responsibility efforts, including an annual company-wide Volunteer Week, paid time off to volunteer, and a matching gifts program. We are also committed to company-wide sustainability efforts.
Our employees are committed to volunteerism and giving back to communities around the world. As a company dedicated to education, many of our volunteer efforts are focused on advancing student outcomes for those in underserved communities.
HMH is proud to support Cares Councils, comprised of employees who are passionate about community service. Cares Councils align with our major office locations and distribution centers across the United States, Ireland, and India, including a Remote Cares Council to engage home-based colleagues. Council members utilize funding, training, and support from the Corporate Social Responsibility team to engage colleagues in volunteer opportunities and charitable campaigns during HMH's annual Volunteer Week and all year long.

I really enjoyed working with students. Having that moment in the classroom brings you back to our why! It really filled my bucket.

HMH and City Year share a mission to build a more equitable future for all students. We proudly sponsor City Year AmeriCorps members who serve at the Young Achievers Science and Mathematics Pilot School in Boston. HMH employees volunteer with City Year throughout the country, both in person and virtually, on service projects, in after-school programs, and through interactive hands-on learning events.
826 Boston works to empower traditionally underserved students to find their voices, tell their stories, and gain skills to succeed in school and life. HMH has proudly partnered with 826 Boston for several years, with employees volunteering as writing tutors, guest editors, and mentors to help students craft and refine college essays. HMH sponsors the 826 Boston Writers' Room at Boston International Newcomers Academy, where students can receive guidance, feedback, and in-school tutoring throughout the year.
I look forward to Volunteer Week every year and appreciate the encouragement to participate and the variety of projects offered. It's team-building, fun, and meaningful work, all at the same time!
