HMH Florida’s B.E.S.T. Into Math^®  

Florida’s B.E.S.T. Into Math Grades 6–8 is built from the ground up for Florida, providing 100% alignment to B.E.S.T. benchmarks and Mathematical Thinking and Reasoning (MTR) standards. Lessons include clearly labeled standards at point of use, coherent progressions across grades, and “I Can” statements that make expectations transparent for students and educators. 

The program balances conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application through high-quality tasks and daily reasoning activities. Lessons are intentionally sequenced to build deep understanding before procedures, ensuring students meet the rigor and cognitive demand expected in Florida classrooms. 

MTR standards are embedded in every lesson and at the task level, helping teachers monitor progress and engage students in modeling, reasoning, discourse, and real-world application. Students also use learning scales and rubrics to self-assess their mathematical thinking and track growth over time.

Into Math provides a comprehensive suite of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments, including Growth Measure and module-based assessments. Teachers receive real-time reports, grouping recommendations, and standards-level insights to guide instruction, acceleration, and intervention—ensuring data-driven decision-making aligned with Florida priorities.

The program includes robust MTSS supports, with built-in small-group resources, targeted interventions, and adaptive practice through Waggle^®. Teachers can easily personalize instruction using data-informed grouping, scaffolded resources, and flexible models for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support.

Into Math integrates with Math 180 Flex, an evidence-based intervention designed for students performing below grade level. It provides adaptive learning pathways, real-time feedback, and automatic placement using MAP Growth, accelerating progress while keeping students connected to grade-level expectations.

Florida’s B.E.S.T. Into Math embeds language development within instruction, emphasizing speaking, writing, reading, and listening in math contexts. It includes English/Spanish vocabulary supports, multilingual glossaries, language routines, and scaffolds across proficiency levels, ensuring simultaneous language and content development. 

Daily routines such as “Compare and Connect,” “Stronger and Clearer Each Time,” and collaborative problem-solving tasks engage students in meaningful mathematical discussion. These routines build academic vocabulary, reasoning, and peer-to-peer learning, key components of Florida’s instructional vision. 

Into Math includes FAST prep workbooks, practice assessments, and standards-based reporting tools. Students build confidence through regular practice with assessment-style questions, while teachers use data reports to identify skill gaps and monitor readiness for Florida assessments.
