The development of successful problem-solving skills is a key part of mathematics learning. Through visualization and the model drawing approach, commonly used in Singapore Math ®, students gain the skills they need to tackle increasingly complicated word problems from one grade level to the next. In this edWebinar, participants will:
- Understand the effectiveness of visual models and visualization to develop conceptual understanding and number sense
- Explore and use the Singapore Math® model drawing approach to solve routine and non-routine word problems
- Be able to use visual models to develop quantitative reasoning that leads to algebraic generalization
- Enable more students to access complex problems using visualization and visual models
