Culturally Responsive Teaching in the ELA Classroom

60 Minutes

As ELA educators, we envision a classroom where students can connect with texts, share their ideas and experiences with their peers, and actively engage with their lesson activities. Research shows that this level of engagement is dependent upon students feeling included, validated, valued, and safe. This is why relevancy matters in the ELA classroom. Culturally responsive teaching leverages the experience and strengths of your diverse student population to make lessons more relevant and improve educational outcomes.

In this edWebinar, you will learn strategies for:

  • Creating a learning environment that affirms students
  • Selecting culturally responsive curricular content
  • Incorporating best practices for a more relevant classroom

This edWebinar will be of interest to middle and high school teachers and school and district leaders.
