Welcome back to Teachers in America, where we celebrate teachers and their lasting impact on students' learning journeys and lives.

Today our host Noelle Morris welcomes Teresa Meredith, a fourth-grade teacher who has worked in Indiana schools for 30 years and has dedicated herself to being a mentor and advocate to many.

Even when stepping away from the classroom, Teresa sought to help educators as the President of the Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA). From 2013 to 2019, she led ISTA’s nearly 40,000 members and helped launch a Professional Resource Center as well as a resupply program, which accepts gently used and new classroom supplies from retiring educators and community members to gift to new teachers.

Now back in the classroom doing what she loves, Teresa continues to cultivate a close-knit community of educators within her school and online as an HMH Teacher’s Corner contributor.

In this episode, Teresa will share how to:

  • Create a collaborative teaching environment to welcome new teachers
  • Leverage technology to share teaching ideas and connect with fellow educators
  • Empower fellow educators in having input and ownership in their profession
