For the last 33 years, Teacher Appreciation Week in the beginning of May has honored educators in the U.S. for their commitment to instructing the over 50 million students who attend PreK through 12th grade.
It’s great timing to acknowledge learning professionals who help students blossom and grow academically—especially as beautiful blooms and flowers now do some sprouting of their own and replace the diminishing April rain showers. To that end, last week, teachers across the country received some lovely floral bouquets along with cards, free gifts from retailers, and the traditional “apple for the teacher” as a thank you for all they do to educate our nation’s students.
For our part, we encouraged HMH staffers to share how teachers in their lives have inspired them using #HMHLovesTeachers and #ThankATeacher.
The following are just a few of our favorite tweets that exemplify the love and appreciation we all feel for the 3.2 million teachers in the U.S. who daily transform classrooms into learning labs:
Thank you for igniting my love for reading in 4th Grade, Ms. Bowman! Because of you, I got hooked on authors like Blume and Cleary and wanted to read all the chapter books in a series! You made me feel loved. #HMHLovesTeachers #TeacherApprecationWeek pic.twitter.com/kWhsWYPf4K
