Carol Jago Fb Live 16

How can teachers address the common issue of students becoming distracted by their cellphones? How can teachers leverage social media to encourage students to embrace reading?

Literacy expert Carol Jago, associate director of the California Reading & Literature Project at the University of California, Los Angeles, addresses these questions and others during an HMH Facebook Live on Tuesday, June 26 during ISTE. Jago is also a former president of the National Council of Teachers of English.

During her 15-minute interview, Jago answers additional questions on topics such as why writing with a sense of audience and purpose is more important than ever before and the differences between “skimming and scanning” and close reading. Check it out below!
