Education Research Institute of America (ERIA) conducted a pretest-posttest study to examine the effectiveness of HMH Journeys (2017), at the unit level, during the 2015–2016 school year. Participants included 41 teachers and over 650 students in Grades 1–5, from 15 schools located across 5 states. Pretest-posttest were developed to reflect the content in each unit of study. Students at all five grade levels demonstrated statistically significant reading achievement growth from pretest to posttest. In addition, higher- and lower-ability students at all grade levels demonstrated statistically significant growth.
