Matthew Mugo Fields

Matthew joined HMH in 2017 and has led the development and growth of its supplemental and intervention solutions. In 2025, he was named President of Integrated Platform and Heinemann, where he advances HMH’s integrated strategy to deliver a unified, impactful experience for educators and their students.

Matthew’s work is grounded in the belief that all students deserve access to transformative learning experiences. A serial entrepreneur and senior executive, he is committed to transforming education through technology and innovation to ensure academic success is attainable for every learner.

Before HMH, he founded Redbird Advanced Learning, an AI-driven personalized learning company acquired by McGraw-Hill, and Rocket Learning, a national in-school tutoring provider. He holds dual master’s degrees in business and education from Harvard University and is an honors graduate of Morehouse College. Matthew is also the founder and board chair of Innovation for Equity, a nonprofit focused on improving outcomes for Black learners. In his free time, Matthew is a passionate cyclist and snowboarder.
