Marcela Grillo was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BA in English from Connecticut College in 2016. She was a Girls Write Now mentee from 2011-2012. Her fiction has been regionally and nationally recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and the Alliance for Artists and Writers. Other work, stemming from her passion for disability advocacy and awareness, can be seen on her personal blog, The Spastic Diplege: Cerebral Palsy in Canvas Shoes, and in The Pantsuit, an online publication based in London. Grillo’s first book—Ensuring Access: The Guide for Teens with Disabilities: Networking with Other Disabled Teens and Allies—is a research based, educational work aimed towards teenagers with disabilities and is forthcoming in 2019.
