Jennifer Serravallo has worked as both a teacher in Title I schools in New York City and a senior staff developer for the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University. She is the author of a dozen books on the teaching of reading and writing including The Writing Strategies Book, the New York Times bestseller The Reading Strategies Book, and the two-time award-winning Independent Reading Assessment series. Her upcoming books include Understanding Texts & Readers (September 2018) and A Teacher’s Guide to Reading Conferences (early 2019). Jennifer presented in 2018 at the 26th Annual Model Schools Conference in Orlando about bringing strategies to life through conferring and small group instruction.
