Dr. Amy Endo addresses the science of reading’s latest research and which evidence-based teaching and learning principles are the most effective in today’s literacy classrooms.

Dr. Amy Endo is an Education Research Director managing the literacy, language development, and social-emotional learning research work at HMH. She conducts efficacy studies to examine the effectiveness of the supplemental literacy intervention programs for all learners and to demonstrate that the programs are accelerating the growth of students reading below grade level. She manages studies that examine the neurocognitive basis of reading and the effects of social-emotional learning skills on student achievement. Previously, she spearheaded the development work of a global Pre-K to third grade English Language Arts program for after-school learning centers in the U.S. and Asia. Amy holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology focusing on literacy research from Columbia University Teachers College. She also holds an M.A. in Technology in Education in the context of second language acquisition from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Wellesley College in Linguistics and Japanese Studies.
