Prior to HMH, Smith was Executive Director of Technology at Gilbert Public Schools, a 37,000-student school district outside of Phoenix, Arizona. In this position he developed a three-year technology strategic plan, led the implementation of a digital learning initiative that included a 1:1 rollout for all secondary students, launched a comprehensive professional learning program, and supported the development of a district data dashboard.
