Dr. Gregory Mihalik

Assistant Principal, Sugarland Elementary School, Virginia

Dr. Gregory Mihalik is the Assistant Principal at Sugarland Elementary in Sterling, Virginia. Prior to this position, he worked as an elementary school teacher in Loudoun County for 11 years, teaching the first, second, and fourth grades. He also worked as an instructional facilitator for two years supporting teachers and leading initiatives.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Pennsylvania State University in Elementary Education and then continued his graduate work in Reading Education (M.Ed.) and School Leadership (Ed.S.) at the University of Virginia. After becoming a National Board Certified Teacher, he then completed his doctorate through Liberty University in Curriculum and Instruction. He is now an Adjunct Associate Professor for the University of Maryland University College, teaching classes in the writing department.

He lives in Ashburn with his wife Lauren and two daughters, Melanie and Sienna. His wife also works for Loudoun County, serving as a Reading Specialist. In his free time, Dr. Mihalik enjoys distance running, attending concerts, and traveling with his family.
