Cindy McCann
Cindy McCann is dedicated to pursuing what she considers is an extraordinary, ordinary life through her efforts to help others. In all aspects of life, Cindy uses her natural talents to lead when needed, pitch in and do the work, and make good stuff happen with others. By doing so, she hopes she can inspire others to discover their talents and do what they can to help the world.
After volunteering for 15 years in Oakland, California, for Girl Scouts of Northern California, Cindy now works full-time for the organization as the Organization Effectiveness Director. In her role, she supports staff and volunteer-supported program delivery teams as they seek to test new and relevant models that deliver proven outcomes linked to building courage, confidence and character. These new models include reaching more girls through equitable and meaningful ways that build on the foundational principles of Social and Emotional Learning.
Cindy was the former Executive Director of Every Monday Matters for five years during its transition from a for-profit to a non-profit dedicated to helping students and educators understand how much they matter and how everyone can take action to help themselves, those around them, their communities and the world thrive. By the time she left the organization, EMM was serving approximately 1 million students and 3,000+ educators through its open source curriculum and social engagement programming that was showing early results in achieving key SEL benefits.
She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Technologies from California State University, Northridge. In addition to her professional pursuits, Cindy is a proud mom of three and grandmother of one. She also loves food, dogs, music, and hanging out at the beach.
