Chris Motley is the Founder and & CEO of The Whether. The Whether is a mentorship-based social network for black college students and recent alums designed to make recruiting them easier. It enables employers to target branded content to its users based on their interests, strengths and values - resulting in a qualified talent pipeline. The company has raised over $7 million in funding with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Strada Education Network. Chris was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon. He is the recipient of the 2017 Tech Innovation award by St. Louis Mayor, Lyda Krewson, and was recognized among the Top 35 under 35 business leaders by Chicago Scholars. Prior to founding The Whether, Chris spent 6 years as an EVP at 1888 Mills, a global textile manufacturer, where he led its expansion into Ghana, Africa and built its Apparel Division. Previously, Chris spent 4 years at Goldman Sachs as a Commodities and Interest Rate Products trader. He is a graduate of Columbia University and the Kellogg School of Management.
