Dr. Barbara Rupert Mondloch

A high school Spanish teacher for 18 years, Dr. Barbara Mondloch taught Level 1 through AP Spanish and implemented a FLES program in her district. As an elementary school principal, she is working to increase access to early language learning. After years of preparation, her district started their first dual-language immersion program. Dr. Mondloch is past-president of ACTFL, the Pacific Northwest Council for Languages (PNCFL), and the Washington Association for Language Teaching (WAFLT). Co-author of ¡Avancemos! in addition to other publications, she has presented at numerous national language conferences. Among her honors, Dr. Mondloch received the Christa McAuliffe Award for Excellence in Education, Spanish Teacher of the Year by the Juan de Fuca Chapter of AATSP, Inspirational Leadership Award from WAFLT, and Outstanding Contribution to Language Teaching from PNCFL. She earned her doctorate in Education Leadership from Washington State University.
