Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Signs ‘The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking’

NEW YORK  — Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) Trade Publishing announced today that recently appointed Senior Executive Editor Rick Wolff has signed Chris Anderson's Talk This Way! The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking as the first acquisition in his new line of business books at HMH.

The popularity of TED talks — which now receive one billion views annually — has helped spark a renaissance of public speaking.  Nobody knows this better than the head of TED, Chris Anderson. In Talk This Way!, he offers the secrets behind the best TED presentations, showing that presentation literacy is a core skill for any citizen of our age of knowledge, and that human-to-human live speech is the most powerful form of communication we have.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to work with Chris on this much-anticipated book. Everybody in global business today knows that TED talks are universally respected, and to have Chris’ personal and practical insights on how to deliver a powerful and great speech — whether for TED or for any other platform — is a true win-win for everyone,” said Wolff.

“Many people have something important to say, but are terrified by public speaking,” said Chris Anderson.  “Yet the skills to deliver a compelling talk are teachable. Over the last 10 years, my team and I have had access to the preparation process of many of the world’s best speakers.  It’s thrilling to have this opportunity to share what we’ve learned with a broader public, and I look forward to working with Rick and his colleagues at HMH.”

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt acquired US rights from Brockman, Inc. (John Brockman), who have sold rights to date in Canada, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and the UK.
