HMH Establishes AI Educator Council to Deepen Real-World Classroom Insights Shaping AI Solutions

The council unites educators from districts across the country to provide feedback and champion purposeful technology in education

BOSTON – Adaptive learning company HMH has formed an AI Educator Council to give teachers a seat at the table in developing the latest AI solutions. Made up of educators from across the country, the council ensures innovation remains grounded in classroom reality and research-backed pedagogy.

Created by HMH Labs, the council is comprised of classroom teachers, instructional coaches and leaders from districts both large and small, rural and urban. These professionals collaborate directly with the HMH Labs team, which is focused on the development and customer experience of emerging technologies, including AI, in support of HMH’s high-tech, high-touch vision for K-12 learning. Feedback from the council helps ensure AI-powered solutions are rooted in real-world classroom experiences and align with the needs of today’s educators and students.

“AI must be built with — not just for — educators,” says Andrew Goldman, EVP, HMH Labs. “It is critical our work and perspective on AI is focused on connections with high quality curriculum, actionable data and the real-world use and application of products. The HMH AI Educator Council is instrumental in our planning. It drives the development of tools that are not only innovative but also practical, equitable and supportive of the incredible work teachers do every day.”

Council members meet regularly to test new features, share classroom experiences about how they are using AI, and provide feedback on AI-driven tools in development. Their insights have already influenced several upcoming product enhancements and tools for back-to-school, which automate various tasks for teachers.

“It's been inspiring to hear of the different uses for AI outside of my four classroom walls,” says Katherine Beals, an Elementary teacher in Warren County, Kentucky and member of the HMH AI Educator Council. “It’s important for teachers to see how AI cannot replace an educator. Instead, it’s an enhancer that frees up educators to spend the bulk of their time where it matters – teaching and creating alongside their students!”

The HMH AI Educator Council is part of HMH’s broader commitment to responsible AI development in education. By centering educator experiences, HMH aims to build purposeful technology that empowers teachers, protects data and privacy and drives growth for every student.
