Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s HMH Fuse: Algebra 1 Common Core App Named an Official Honoree of the 16th Annual Webby Awards

BOSTON -- Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) today announced its HMH Fuse: Algebra 1 Common Core App has been named an Official Honoree in the Experimental & Innovation category in the 16th Annual Webby Awards.  Presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and often described as the Academy Awards of the Internet, the Webby Awards honor excellence across a range of categories including Website, Interactive Advertising & Media, Online Film & Video, and Mobile & App.

“Since their inception the Webby Awards have represented the best in digital innovation, and we’re proud to be among this year’s honorees,” said Linda K. Zecher, President and CEO, HMH.  “We are committed to innovating with the goal of inspiring passionate, curious learners, and this recognition validates our continued efforts.”

HMH Fuse™: Algebra 1 Common Core, the world’s first-ever core math curriculum app for the Apple iPad®, engages students in ways that traditional education cannot. Using the iPad, students watch engaging video tutorials, swipe through pages, get hints and walk through complex problems at home or on the go. The revolutionary platform encourages the use of personalized lesson plans by combining direct instruction, ongoing support, assessment and intervention in one easy-to-use suite of tools.

Results of a yearlong pilot program at the Amelia Earhart Middle School in California's Riverside Unified School District were recently released, showing the significant impact the app had on students’ test scores and overall levels of math proficiency.
