Curious George Guides Young Learners through their A-B-Cs with Engaging New Mobile App from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

BOSTON – Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) today announced Curious About Letters for iPad® – the latest release in its popular series of Curious George® mobile apps, designed to bring the iconic children’s book character to a new generation of digital learners. Part of the Curious About series, Letters teaches children alphabet recognition, while engaging them in Curious George’s colorful world, where letters lie waiting to be discovered behind bushes, fire trucks, and toy chests.

This interactive app, developed for preschool-to-kindergarten-aged children, will reinforce knowledge of the A-B-Cs, as they laugh and play along with everyone’s favorite monkey and the Man with the Yellow Hat. In-app activities include tracing letters, matching lowercase and uppercase letters into pairs, and becoming familiar with the sounds of individual letters through voice recording and play-back. As children complete tasks, they have the opportunity to earn achievement badges, helping them to build confidence in their newly developed skills.

“We know that early childhood education is critical for long-term success. Designed for pre-school children, the Curious About app series builds essential elementary skills through tasks which promote interaction and curiosity,” said Gary Gentel, President of HMH Trade Publishing. “For us, it’s about creating entertaining and engaging educational content that kids will love and that parents can trust.”

Curious About Letters
joins a growing collection of HMH apps designed to build foundational education principles for young learners. The series includes Curious George’s Town, Curious About Shapes & Colors and Draw with Curious George.
