Math Help Tips

When it’s 8:00 at night and your child is stuck on a math homework assignment, you need fast, easy, targeted help. That’s what Go Math! Academy is here for. Just search our video library, and you can present your child with a lesson taught by an expert math teacher on exactly the topic that’s causing trouble.

The videos in our library were developed with Dr. Edward Burger, an award-winning math educator and President of Southwestern University. How to Help Your Child Succeed in Math

You don’t have to be an expert math teacher to help your child with math. You just need the right tools—like the math exercises, step-by-step instructions, and video lessons you'll find on Go Math! Academy. Our lessons are aligned with math curriculum and methods taught in schools, so you won’t have to worry about “breaking” your child’s learning.

Here are more tips to help you help your child with math:

  • Show patience. Just because your child seemed to understand a math concept yesterday doesn’t he or she will remember it today. Kids (and adults!) usually need multiple exposures to a new skill or concept before it sticks.
  • Give praise. Celebrate effort and accomplishments. Keep the tone positive to keep frustration and anxiety at bay.
  • Schedule time. Choose a regular time for math homework, before your child gets too tired to handle challenges.
  • Fuel up. A boost of energy from a healthy snack can help your child power through math homework.
  • Offer resources. Sometimes it helps to get a different take on a challenging math topic. That’s where our math videos can help. They complement classroom learning but also provide a different presentation and context that may help your child grasp something new.
Using Our Math Help Video Library

You can use our math video library for more than just math homework help. You can use it to:
