The Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) is a projective test of personality dynamics that assesses an individual's dominant drives, emotions, traits, and conflicts. Intended for use with children and adults, the TAT was the first widely used storytelling test. It has ranked among the top 10 psychological tests in usage surveys for more than 50 years. Testing time may be as short as 15 minutes, depending upon the number of stories elicited.
