The Latest Growth Mindset Research
READ 180 Universal develops academic mindset and behaviors, and encourages learning strategies critical for success in college and carer. Building on existing structures that instill a sense of belonging, self-efficacy, and purpose, READ 180 Universal adds a focus on growth mindset. This focus helps to build students' knowledge of growth mindset and increase their awareness of their own mindset. READ 180 Universal also helps teachers internalize growth mindset for themselves and their students.
Growth mindset is integrated into READ 180 Universal using five principles, which reach across program components:
- Teach how the brain changes learning and how focus and effort can lead to academic success.
- Build a growth mindset classroom culture where students and teachers have the language to talk about academic mindsets and behaviors.
- Communicate feedback that focuses on process, not abilities.
- Model and teach positive learning behaviors.
- Illuminate connections between mindset, behavior and performance.
