The Oregon Trail is one of the most successful video games of all time, introducing a generation of kids to the difficult, hopeful journey of American pioneers. As they travelled from Missouri to Oregon, players would ford rivers, hunt for food, manage their supplies, and experience the extraordinary landmarks along the way. Disaster awaited the careless or unlucky traveler: bad weather, broken limbs, snakebites, exhaustion, starvation, drowning, and of course, the dreaded dysentery.
Inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame in 2016, The Oregon Trail showed that video games could be both tremendous fun and deeply educational. The journey continues today with new The Oregon Trail products that appeal to both nostalgic adults and young pioneers.
