Georgia′s Largest School System Partners with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to Equip Educators and Students for 21st Century Learning

BOSTON – Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) today announced that the largest school system in the state of Georgia, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), has chosen HMH to enhance its digital initiatives and create a more connected, productive ecosystem for teachers, students, parents, and administrators. This partnership serves to support the GCPS eCLASS (digital Content, Learning, Assessment, and Support System) initiative – a multi–year program to deliver the digital tools that will expand the walls of the classroom, enhance student engagement, and foster greater collaboration.

“In order to see our students succeed, we must recognize the need for personalized learning in an age where students expect and receive content 24/7 in new and impactful ways,” said GCPS CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks. “There exists a critical need for schools to assess the child as a whole, and then develop a comprehensive learning plan that delivers content anytime, anywhere, using a variety of methods and technology. This requires a solution that is sustainable, expandable, and developed in collaboration with a long–term partner. For this, GCPS turned to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.”

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has the unique ability to look across the entire landscape of a school and provide the necessary architecture to accompany class–leading content and innovative technology. In order to accomplish this district′s goals, HMH is employing its revolutionary learning management system, Pinpoint, as the engine that drives the personalized learning initiative. More than ever, teachers will be fully equipped with knowledge on each student′s progress. That knowledge will be used to devise personalized learning plans and assessments that incorporate HMH′s proven programs. The district and HMH continue to work together on a long-term public/private partnership that is sustainable, expandable, and ultimately provides more than just content and a platform. Now Gwinnett County Public Schools is ready to deliver anytime, anywhere learning to students who learn everywhere, all the time.

“HMH is proud to partner with a leading district like Gwinnett County Public Schools. It′s crucial for schools today to have access to integrated platforms that utilize technology to boost personalized learning and increase achievement through the mediums of choice for today′s generation of learners,” said Linda Zecher, President and CEO of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. “By providing data–driven solutions for administrators, teachers, students and parents, Pinpoint Suite will help Gwinnett County continue to enhance student outcomes.”

The addition of Pinpoint Suite is critical to the school system′s eCLASS initiative. Pinpoint Suite will be specifically employed to improve the instructional component of eCLASS, as it allows for teachers to track student progress in an integrated and streamlined way.
