Boston -- Mar 11th, 2010 -- Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt today presented Rosanna Mucetti, Manager of Bilingual and English Language Development (ELD) Programs at San Jose Unified School District, with a $5,000 scholarship to assist her pursuit of an advanced degree in educational leadership. Mucetti received the award at the 35th Annual California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) Conference Luncheon, where bilingual educators and parents from across the Bay Area gathered to discuss issues surrounding English language learner (ELL) students.

Award assists aspiring Latino superintendents in California who pursue advanced degrees in education
“Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is pleased to present this scholarship to such a talented educator,” said John Sipe, Vice President of the Western sales region.“We value our ongoing relationship with CABE and are proud to support the association and Rosanna as they work to develop and improve education programs for English learners and bilingual students statewide.”The one-time $5,000 scholarship is awarded to a member of CABE in good standing, who is an aspiring school leader pursuing an advanced degree in education with the goal of becoming a superintendent, and who demonstrates a passion for supporting ELL students.Rosanna, originally from the East Bay, expresses a deep passion for educational leadership and administration. After focusing her education on the history of advocacy surrounding bilingual education in California, Rosanna began her professional career as a bilingual teacher and then principal for the Hayward Unified School District. She complements her current position at San Jose Unified with doctoral studies in Educational Leadership in Social Justice.“I am so honored and excited to receive this scholarship,” said Rosanna.“Working in a district leadership role provides me the opportunity to advocate for educational equity on behalf of English language learners and bilingual students — something about which I am extremely passionate and to which I am deeply committed.”Houghton Mifflin Harcourt values the opportunity to partner with CABE to support bilingual teachers in California as they pursue advanced leadership roles.
