Boston -- Aug 2nd, 2010 -- Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) today announced that College Board has fully approved its America: The Last Best Hope series, written by eminent author, educator and former Secretary of Education Dr. William Bennett, for use in Advanced Placement (AP) U.S. History courses nationwide.

“We have developed a first-ever U.S. History curriculum that meets the needs of both eighth graders and college students,” said Bethlam Forsa, Executive Vice President, K–12 Content Development and Publishing Operations, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. “Secretary Bennett’s ability to weave pedagogy and innovation into America: The Last Best Hope makes the series an ideal learning tool for a wide range of students. Plus, those who excel academically will be even more motivated to achieve more with this groundbreaking approach.”

In addition to its unique scalable curriculum, America: The Last Best Hope includes an interactive Premium Online Roadmap feature — developed by award-winning educators and American history experts at Team HOPE (History Opens Eyes) — that revolutionizes American history instruction by providing students and teachers with a suite of web-based support materials.

The series’ blended print and online curriculum reduces its cost as well as its carbon footprint. Additionally, its print component is available in e-reader format.
